Key Stage 2 Tests

Revision Packs

Can you please encourage your children to continue to complete as many revision packs as possible. We have a special pizza afternoon planned for children that have completed all 7 books by the end of April 2018.

We would like to thank you for all your continued support and encouragement regarding these revision packs. We have been amazed by how many books the children have already completed.

When are the SATs?

The Year 6 SATs take place from Monday 13th May to Thursday 16th May 2019. We would encourage children to arrive at school promptly so that we can make sure the children are calm and settled ready for the tests to begin.  We will also be supplying free breakfasts for all Y6 children during SATs week.

The timetable for the week is as follows:

Children in Year 6 are also assessed on their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.  The curriculum introduced in 2014 provides greater challenge with higher expectations set at the end of KS2. The results of the SATs (tests) are reported using a scaled score, where a score of 100 represents the expected standard.  The highest possible score is 120 and the lowest is 80.

Children are awarded one of the following Teacher Assessment Judgements in Writing:

Expected Standard – working at the expected standard for their age

Greater Depth – working at greater depth within the expected standard and has a strong understanding of the curriculum

Children achieving a scaled score of 110 or more are classed as achieving a high standard and are working at greater depth.

More details regarding this visit will follow shortly.

Easter Club

Dates for 2018/2019 yet to be confirmed.  Please keep checking our websites for updates.

During the first week of the Easter holidays, we are opening school and would like to invite Y6 children to attend an Easter Club. The club will open at 8:30am and finish at 12:30pm. Children will be provided with a free breakfast and will also be allowed to walk to and from school independently. Children are allowed to bring bikes, scooters and rollerblades into school to use during break times. However, they will be responsible for these items.

The Easter Club is essential to helping children prepare for the SATs. We will only have 2 weeks after the Easter holidays before the SATs and would encourage all children to attend Easter Club. On the Thursday, we will have a small party to celebrate them attending all the Easter classes during the week.

Revision Club

Please remember that our revision sessions take place on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school.  Children who attend these classes will gain points towards The University of East Dene and will be given free entry into Friday after school club.  If you are unable to collect your child after the clubs then please contact school to arrange for a member of staff to take your child home.

Parents Meeting

We will be holding a SATs information meeting on Wednesday 28th February 2019 at 3:30pm.  We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
