Key Stage 2 Tests
Can you please encourage your children to continue to complete as many revision packs as possible. We have a special pizza afternoon planned for children that have completed all 7 books by Thursday 6th of April.
We would like to thank you for all your continued support and encouragement regarding these revision packs. We have been amazed by how many books the children have already completed.
When are the SATs?
The Year 6 SATs take place from Monday the 8th of May until Thursday 11th May. We would encourage children to arrive at school promptly so that we can make sure the children are calm and settled ready for the tests to begin. We will also be supplying free breakfasts for all Y6 children during SATs week.
The timetable for the week is as follows:
Monday 8th May
- Reading SATs Paper
Tuesday 9th May
- Grammar SATs Paper
- Spelling SATs Paper
Wednesday 10th May
- Maths Reasoning Paper 1
- Maths Arithmetic
Thursday 11th May
- Maths Reasoning Paper 2
The weekend before SATs we would like to take your children on a FREE residential visit to Kingswood Peak Venture which is located in Penistone. We will be leaving school at 2pm on Friday the 5th of May and will return to School on Sunday the 7th of May at 2:30pm.
The residential is key to the preparation of SATs. Children get to enjoy a relaxing weekend with their peers taking part in exciting challenges such as Zip-wire, Archery and Laser tag as well as being supported with revision activities.
More details regarding this visit will follow shortly.
During the first week of the Easter holidays, we are opening school and would like to invite Y6 children to attend an Easter Club. The club will start on Monday the 10th of April and run until Thursday 13th of April. The club will open at 8:30am and finish at 12:30pm. Children will be provided with a free breakfast and will also be allowed to walk to and from school independently. Children are allowed to bring bikes, scooters and rollerblades into school to use during break times. However, they will be responsible for these items.
The Easter Club is essential to helping children prepare for the SATs. We will only have 2 weeks after the Easter holidays before the SATs and would encourage all children to attend Easter Club. On the Thursday, we will have a small party to celebrate them attending all the Easter classes during the week.
Please remember that our revision sessions take place on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school. Children who attend these classes will gain points towards The University of East Dene and will be given free entry into Friday after school club. If you are unable to collect your child after the clubs then please contact school to arrange for a member of staff to take your child home.
We will be holding a SATs information meeting on Thursday 2nd March at 3:30pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
